About

Amanda has extensive experience in the healthcare field and is currently employed as a Sr. Risk Management Specialist at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. As a healthcare risk manager, she wanted to further her knowledge in safety and enrolled in the industrially diverse MSc Human Factors and Systems Safety Master of Science Program at Lund University, Lund, Sweden.

Amanda is a current faculty member of the University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Medicine, Patient Safety Leadership (PSL) Master’s Program for the Extended Campus.

Amanda Kuenstler has been a registered nurse for over twenty-five years. And has worked as a Risk Manager for over fifteen years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UTMB School of Nursing and a master’s degree at Lund University, Lund, Sweden. She holds a certification in risk management and healthcare quality. Amanda has used her risk management skills to create educational opportunities for various healthcare groups by presenting oral and poster presentations in local, national and international conferences.

Amanda has been an active member of a non-profit organization, Greater Houston Society of Healthcare Risk Management (GHSHRM) for twelve years participating on the GHSHRM Board as a Board of Directors, Secretary and Education Committee Co-Chair as well as a current Board Member. She has served as a member of the ASHRM Education Task-Force Committee for one term.
